Building Sock RNR wasn’t just about making a shoe—it was about stress-testing the creative workflow, uncovering friction points, and shaping Interplay to meet designers where they are. Beyond the physical product, it became a tool for listening: a way to understand how designers think, iterate, and navigate complexity when translating ideas into manufacturable forms.

DETAILS
Unmoldable Midsole
3D Printing enabled us to create shapes and sculpted forms in the midsole that could never be done with traditional printing (unless you want to try and build a mold with 11 sliders).
A New Stance
Quick 3D and fast printed iterations allowed us
to find the right heel lift that blended a sleek avant-garde toe down view with a more elaborate and engineered heel. Business in the front, party in the rear.
Mixed Materiality
The Sock RNR merges soft form and engineered structure through a bold play in mixed materiality—pairing a breathable, sock-like textile upper with a precision 3D-printed sole.
